Chattanooga Women Head to Florida to Defend Title

| By:

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.---The Chattanooga women's golf team and junior Emma de Groot head to Florida this weekend to defend titles at the 2010 JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational.  It was the second of two team titles in 2008-09 for the Mocs.

Emma de Groot won her fourth collegiate event at the JMU/Eagle Landing last year.  She shot a four-under par 212 including her season-low round of 69 (-3) in the final round.  All three of her rounds were par or better as she shot 72, 71 and 69 en route to medalist honors.

The junior from Australia is coming off a tie for fourth at the Kinderlou Forest Challenge earlier this week shooting a one-over par 220.  Emma's efforts earned her Southern Conference Player of the Week honors.

As a group, the Mocs will look to battle back from a sluggish Spring start.  Chattanooga finished tied for 15th at the Kinderlou Forest Challenge as only de Groot managed to finish in the top 50.  It is a similar start to last Spring when the Mocs finished 16th in Arizona's Wildcat Invitational prior to capturing the JMU/Eagle Landing title.

Junior Christine Wolf finished tied for 59th at Kinderlou Forest.  Wolf led the team in pars with 35 in her 54 holes, but she carded just one birdie.  As a whole

WHO:  Moa Duf.  In Moa's second tournament with the Mocs, she finished in the top 10 of the 2009 JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational coming in fifth including a final round 71 (-1), her career-low round.  She shot two-over par 218 in last year's event.
