Thoughts on the game:
"I am proud of the fact that we hung in there. I am a little disappointed in our play. I can't explain it...that first half...we pretty much looked like had never practiced before. Things we have gone over we didn't execute. The only thing that saved us in the first half is Kiara Smith. Those threes she hit..two in the first half and one big one in the second half...if it hadn't been for her, we would have never been in this game."
On the final play of the game:
"In the timeout we talked about trying to set a pick on the ball for Kayla again, because we had run that a few minutes before and she hit a jumper. We knew that they might try to double or trap her. That's why we had Bailey setting the pick instead of Hoodie (Whitney Hood). It didn't come real easily. I think Bailey had to create a shot, so you have to give her all of the credit. That was a big play on her part."
"Again, it is a win on the road. I know this team is going to have to get a whole lot better if we are going to compete in the league or have a chance to get a win in our next game on the road. Tonight we will enjoy it."
On Kayla Christopher only taking five shots:
"We have got to get her more looks. Part of that now is that she is the go-to person on the perimeter. Last year, Jenaya Wade-Fray drew a lot of attention as a two-time all-conference player so Kayla got a lot more open looks. Now it is tougher and she is having to work a lot harder."
On the 16 turnovers:
"That's too many. We didn't do a good job of taking care of the ball. That is one of the things that is so disappointing. When you run a set play, or an in-bounds play, you should know what we are looking for. You should be able to deliver a pass in a timely fashion when an individual is breaking open. We are hesitating. I don't know if we are afraid of making a mistake...that is my fault if we are...we hesitate and the look is no longer there and we turn it over."
On the lack of aggression by the Lady Mocs:
"This is two games in a row where we have been passive and our opponent has been aggressive. That isn't going to work. That just doesn't win ball games. I look at the free throw attempts...they shot 20 and we shot seven. That doesn't have anything to do with the officiating. It had everything to do with they are attacking and they are aggressive. We are shying away and passing the ball around until the shot clock is almost out. Part of that is we are trying to go into Whitney Hood and it is making our guards tentative, but we have to look to be more aggressive...both attacking the basket and going to the offensive boards."
