Western Carolina at Chattanooga
Chattanooga, Tenn. - McKenzie Arena
Jan. 22, 2011
Head Coach Wes Moore
Opening Statement:
"It's a start. Obviously, we did a better job in the second half defensively and in rebounding. I am really excited now about having a week where we can focus on us, and hopefully, we can get better."
On the Focus during the week off:
"We have to get better rebounding and learning how to play team defense. I do not think we have realized how athletic this conference is and sometimes you will not be able to guard a player one-on-one."
On Kylie Lambert's performance:
"It is good to see her play with some confidence and hopefully that will continue to grow. I think that she is playing really hard right now, so I am hoping we can get some consistent scoring from her."
On Whitney Hood's performance:
"When you are running a four-out-and-one offense, that one in has to work hard. I was glad to see her perform well tonight."
On getting different players more minutes:
"You have to be able to trust that they will do what they are supposed to most of the time. This season all of our games are tight, so you have to have players out there you can trust. So hopefully the trust level in the next few weeks will continue to increase."
Sophomore Kylie Lambert
On the win:
"It feels real good to get this win. Coach wanted me to take it to the rim more and be more aggressive on offense, and I tried to do that tonight. It will be nice to have a week off to work as a team on certain things we need to improve on."
Junior Whitney Hood
On the win:
"It was a good win for us tonight. It was important for us to win this game going into a week off. We have to work on some more things in practice. We will be able to do that this week before our next game. I think if we sure up a couple things, we can have a good second half of the season before the conference tournament."
