Chattanooga Basketball Postgame Quotes
Chattanooga (13-12, 10-6 SoCon) vs. Davidson (11-14, 6-10 SoCon)
McKenzie Arena - Chattanooga, Tenn.
Saturday - Feb. 12, 2011
Head Coach Wes Moore
On the game
"We came out shooting the ball really well. Then we hit a stretch were the shots didn't drop, and Davidson made a run. We knew they were capable of putting points up and they did. In the second half we had a lot of people shooting the ball well."
On five players in double figures
"If you told me we had five people put up double figures, and Kayla Christopher wasn't one of them I would have been surprised. It was good that we had people step up."
On preparing for the rest of the regular season
Rebounding was better, and we can continue to build on that. We have two weeks left in the regular season. We have to clean some things up, and get some people out there that we can trust to do what they are suppose to do as we head down the stretch.
On Bailey Dewart's performance
"What can you say? She did a great job of crashing the boards, and hit some three's early for us. 16 points, 16 rebounds is a pretty awesome night.
On being over .500 for the first time this season
"For the first time in a long time, we have to be excited about being above .500. I don't know if this is a good thing or bad thing. It has made me appreciate the wins a little more this year. Getting two wins on the road last weekend was like winning the Super Bowl. It puts things in perspective. We still expect a lot from our kids and programs. We have had to battle all year to get to this point."
On Appalachian State game Monday night
"I think we do have an opportunity to gain some confidence if we can play well. They are talented, and are playing well. They won a big game down at Samford today. They have probably put the thing (conference championship) away."
On playing a lot of freshman tonight
"I have to get the freshman out there and grow a little bit. It has been my fault that I haven't done it sooner. It has felt like every game we have been fighting for our lives. I have to let them play through mistakes. I have to get to the point to trust them. We only have two weeks until the tournament, and we have to have some depth. I think they are talented, but they have had so many breakdown and mistakes. I just have to hang with it. They did some good things tonight."
On this game after hitting winning 3-pointer against Davidson earlier this year
"I just tried to play hard. Hoodie (Whitney Hood) helped me by dishing me the ball when she was covered."
On the importance of hitting first three in the game
"It helps a lot. I have been struggling with my shot, so seeing the first one go down gave me the confidence I needed."
Happier with double-double or having record better than .500
"Definitely being over .500. We are really starting to gel as a team. Our defense has picked up I think. We have been really working hard and that is important; as we get closer to the SoCon Tournament."
On the difficulty playing against Aleksandravicius
"It is not really that tough. I knew going into the game that I could not shoot over her, but instead I had to go around her and take it to the basket."
On guarding Aleksandravicius
"Well I did pretty good, I thought, in the first half. She got to me in the second half a little, but she is a good player and that can be expected. Now, we have to focus on Appalachian State Monday."
On what will it take to beat Appalachian State
"We have to do the little things like rebounding and playing defense to get us a victory. I think that week we had off in January allowed us to come together as a unit more, and we were able to work on our overall game. "
