Mocs Women?s Golf in Third Following Opening Round of the Spring

VALDOSTA, Ga. --- Chattanooga senior Emma de Groot (Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia) is tied for first leading the Mocs to third place after 18 holes of the Kinderlou Forest Challenge. de Groot's two-under par 71 paced Chattanooga's 13-over par 305.
de Groot shot her low round of 2010-11 and tied her season-high with four birdies. She is tied with Florida State's Hannah Thomson, one stroke ahead of Casey Kennedy (Augusta State) at minus one, 72. Freshman Marion Duvernay (Publier, France) is tied for fourth with the Seminoles' Mary Beth Ramsey at even par (73).
Duvernay, playing as an individual, is a mid-season enrollee for the Mocs. She posted two birdies, 15 pars and a double bogey.
Christine Wolf (Igls, Austria) is tied for 27th after today's 77 (+4). Maria Juliana Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) is a shot behind her teammate tied for 36th at 78 (+5) following a birdie on the par five 18th.
Yushira Budhram (Johannesburg, South Africa) got off to a slow start, but closed well. After making the turn at plus six, she parred each hole on the back nine and is tied for 44th at 79 (+6). Jordan Britt (Dayton, Tenn.) had the drop score of 81 (+8) losing seven shots on two holes in the first four before playing the final 14 at one over.
Coastal Carolina is the early team leader at 303, two shots clear of the Mocs. Southern Conference-rival Western Carolina is in second at 304. No. 12 Georgia, Florida State, Furman and Augusta State are tied for fourth a stroke behind Chattanooga in third.
The Mocs tee off at 9 a.m, led by Britt. Paired with Coastal Carolina and Western Carolina, she will be followed by Budhram (9:08), Loza (9:16), Wolf (9:24) and de Groot (9:32). Live scoring can be at GoMocs.com.
