LAST TIME OUT
The Mocs finished a disappointing tied for sixth at the SunTrust Gator Women's Golf Invite with No. 11 Iowa State and Coastal Carolina just two shots behind No. 22 Arkansas in fifth. Emma de Groot recorded her third straight top five tying for third at 6-over par 216. Marion Duvernay finished tied for 25th (227) in her first team event of 2010-11.
NEXT UP
Chattanooga gets some well-deserved time off before returning to action April 1-3 at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga. It will mark the Mocs' first entry in the event.
NOTES TO KNOW
- This is the 3rd consecutive year for UTC in the JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational. It won the inaugural event in 2009 shooting +2, 866, for 54 holes including a school-record final round of 283 (-5). Emma de Groot won the 2009 event (-4) and finished 2nd a year ago (+1) as the Mocs finished 8th (918).
- The women's golf program recorded a 3.65 GPA in the Fall semester which not only ranked No. 1 amongst the athletics programs at UTC (11 had GPAs of 3.0 or higher), but it is also the best team semester on record. Every Mocs golfer earned Dean's List and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll led by Maju Loza's 4.0.
- The Mocs have won twice in 2010-11. They closed the Fall slate with a win at the Lady Paladin Invitational and opened the Spring with a nice win at the Kinderlou Forest Challenge. Those are the eighth and ninth wins since the team was re-instated three-plus years ago. Murray's charges have earned at least one win every year since she restarted the program in 2007-08.
- Chattanooga has claimed wins over the likes of Florida State (2-1), Georgia (1-0), Kent State (1-1), Oklahoma State (1-0), San Jose State (1-0), South Carolina (1-0), Texas A&M (1-0) and Texas Tech (3-0) this season - all of whom advanced to the 2010 NCAA Women's Championship.
- The Mocs are closers.

- Chattanooga is No. 28 in the nation in Par 5 scoring at 5.03 strokes. Maria Juliana Loza leads the team with a 4.87 average which is No. 54 nationally.
- UTC is No. 49 in Par 4 scoring at 4.31. de Groot is leading the team at 4.18.
- The Mocs are No. 60 in Par 3 average (3.26). Wolf is the leader on those holes with a 3.15 average.
- This is the fourth year of Mocs golf since Colette Murray re-started the program after it was discontinued in the mid-1980s. In the previous three seasons, UTC won seven team titles, had six medalist winners and was a part of NCAA Regionals all three years with an individual (de Groot) qualifying the first season, and the team the last two. In 2009, the Mocs advanced to the NCAA Finals. UTC won its first Southern Conference Women's Golf Championship in 2010.
- The first recruiting class to go through the program from freshman to graduation is upon us. de Groot and Wolf are the first such seniors for the Mocs.
- Chattanooga's first event, the Labor Day Shootout, was shortened to 27 holes. Since the standings were decided by 27 holes, and the scoring averages are not computed per hole, the event is not included in the Mocs' averages for 2010-11. It was played at the famed TPC at Sawgrass Stadium Course. For the record, all five Mocs, and Murray in the practice round, found dry land on each tee shot on the infamous No. 17 island green.
- The Mocs beat two top 25 programs finishing 10th at the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C. UTC carded rounds of 309, 303 and 299 to shoot 911 topping No. 18 South Carolina by eight and No. 23 Oklahoma State by 13. Britt shot a career-low 69 (-3) in the final round to lead the Mocs tying for 11th at 222 (+6).
- Chattanooga claimed its first win of 2010-11 at the Lady Paladin Invitational at Furman G.C. It won going away by 14 shots over Georgia State shooting rounds of 305-308-302. Three Mocs finished in the top 15 led by Emma de Groot in fourth at 228. Christine Wolf (t5th) and Jordan Britt (t14th) joined her in the top 15. UTC topped three SoCon programs - Furman (24), Samford (38) and Wofford (51) - by a combined 113 strokes. Chattanooga also beat in-state rivals ETSU and Middle Tennessee by 31 and 40 shots, respectively.
- The Mocs won their 2nd straight event opening the Spring with a 9-stroke win over Coastal Carolina. Augusta State was third, 13 shots off the pace, while Florida State wound up fourth, 14 back. No. 12 Georgia started the event but did not complete after trailing by 20 strokes through 36 holes. Three Mocs claimed top 10 finishes led by Yushira Budhram in second at level par 219. She was one shot off the pace set by Augusta State's Casey Kennedy. Emma de Groot ended up fourth, while Christine Wolf was seventh with a closing round 69 (-4). UTC beat SoCon rivals Furman and Western Carolina by 24 and 35 shots, respectively.
