Chattanooga Women?s Golf Extends Lead to 17 at SoCon Championship

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.---The Chattanooga women's golf team added to its lead at the Southern Conference Championship at Moss Creek Golf Club. The Mocs have a 17-shot cushion heading into Tuesday's final round.
Emma de Groot (Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia) is the individual leader at one-over par 145. She fired a one-under 71 for her second round to take a seven-shot advantage into tomorrow.
Chattanooga leads its nearest competitor, College of Charleston, by 17. UNC Greensboro is third, 22 shots off the pace, while Furman is a shot back in fourth, 23 behind the Mocs.
de Groot has had the low round over each day, tied by Elon's Virginia Mayer today at 71. Jordan Britt (Dayton, Tenn.) is tied for second behind her teammate with Furman's Alexa Rancourt at 152 (+8). Britt shot a second-round 75 (+3).
All five Mocs are in the top 20. Christine Wolf (Igls, Austria) is tied for eighth at 155, while Marion Duvernay (Publier, France) is a shot behind her tied for 11th at 156. Maria Juliana Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) is tied for 16th at 158.
Chattanooga got off to a great start making the turn at two-over par led by de Groot's 32 (-4). UTC stumbled a bit losing seven shots on the next three holes before extending its lead back to 17 over the closing holes.
For the third straight day the Mocs will be paired with UNCG and CofC. They tee off No. 1 at 8:50 a.m., led by Loza. She'll be followed by Duvernay (9:00), Wolf (9:10), Britt (9:20) and de Groot (9:30). Live scoring can be found on the women's golf schedule page on GoMocs.com.
