Marion Duvernay Ties for 5th as Mocs Finish 14th

WOLCOTT, Colo. --- The Chattanooga Mocs finished 14th at the Golfweek Conference Challenge led by Marion Duvernay's (Publier, France) career-best tie for fifth at Red Sky Golf Club. Duvernay shot rounds of 72, 77 and 72 to tie her low tournament score of 221, five-over par.
Chattanooga bounced back from a tough second round to shoot 302 (+14) on Wednesday. It was the tied for the seventh-lowest round of the day. The Mocs ended the 54-hole event with a total of 932.
Oklahoma claimed the team title jumping from sixth to first with a three-over par 291 to shoot 899. UC Davis was second at 904, while Tulsa took third at 906.
The Sooners' Chirapat Jao-Javanil won medalist honors shooting 217 (+1) topping Duvernay by four strokes. The trio of Grace Na (Pepperdine), Kristina Merkle (Tulsa) and Natalie Gleadall (Ole Miss) at 220 (+4).
Michaela Gasplmayr (Ebenfurth, Austria) posted her best round of the event for the Mocs with a 75 (+3). Mette Kryger (Nivaa, Denmark) shot 77 (+5), while Maria Juliana Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) rounded out the counting scores with a 78 (+6).
Loza tied for 54th with a total of 236. Kryger (240) and Gasplmayr (243) followed next in the their first events for UTC tying for 69th and 73rd, respectively. Jordan Britt (Chattanooga, Tenn.) tied for 77th at 245.
The Mocs return to the tee September 30 at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational in Lexington, Ky. The three-day, 54-hole event is a new event from last year's schedule, but not the first visit to the University Club. UTC played there in a weather-shortened event in 2009.
