Thoughts on the game:
"It was nice to get off to a good start. We've been kind of struggling out of the gate the last few games. It was good to hit some shots and get a little bit of confidence going. I thought our kids competed. Samford is a very physical team, they play extremely hard and they have some very good basketball players. Coach Morris does a great job at preparing them so we knew it was going to be a battle. Fortunately, we shot the ball extremely well and we needed every one of those points, as it turned out. It is a big win to protect our serve, so to speak, on our home court. I thought it was a game we had to find a way to win and our kids were able to do that."
On Townsend's 3-pointer at the end of the shot clock, giving Chattanooga a nine point lead late:
"We were a little fortunate there at the end with Tenisha Townsend's 3-pointer at the end of the shot clock, but on the other hand you have to give her some credit. She is a senior who was aware of the situation and was able to get a shot up. We were fortunate it went in, but that was a big bucket. Like I said, they get after you and they play hard. They did a great job of keeping us off the offensive boards. That is something we've been making a living off of and tonight they limited us to very few. Again, it was a heard fought battle, as we knew it would be, with Samford."
Thoughts on Chattanooga's 23 free throws compared to Samford's three free throws:
"Part of that is that we went inside quite a bit, but also they really get up and body you. We play more of a sagging defense, try to help and fill in the gaps. They were really getting after us and bodying up to us. Again, give them credit because it disrupted us some, but our kids did a pretty good job of handling the pressure that they put on us. We hit enough free throws to get it done. We've been shooting free throws extremely well. We missed a few tonight, especially down the stretch, but we were able to get away with it."
Thoughts on the play of Whitney Hood:
"She's a senior who has stepped up and doing a lot of things for this team. She is where the offense starts because we go through her first and see how the defense wants to play her. That kind of dictates what we do off of that. We've tried to encourage her to be a little more active on the boards. I think she is trying to do that. Defensively, Samford is a tough team to play against, but she did a lot of good things for us, and I definitely appreciate her senior leadership that she has given us by example."
Senior Whitney Hood
On third-straight game with atleast 20 points:
"It has been the same gameplan every game so far. This game really meant a lot for us because they put us out of the tournament last year. There was a lot of determination for us in this game."
On the free throw shooting down the stretch:
"I think that we were not as focused on free throws. You are going to have nights where you don't shoot free throws as well. Hopefully, we will hit them in the next game."
Senior Kayla Christopher
On this game starting a tough conference stretch:
"We started this streak and it was at home. We don't want to lose games on our home court, so that was really important. It is important to get this weekend started off on the right foot."
On being able to with stand the runs from other teams:
"The last few games we have not gotten out to a good start. I think that was really good for us. I think that when they did have the punch back. We were right there with them. We have a lot more confidence. It was not unexpected, I guess. We knew that they were a good team coming in. They were not going to roll over. It was real important for us to get out to a good start tonight."
