TEAM
- Lady Mocs improve to 15-6 overall and 10-2 in the Southern Conference with an 80-65 win over Elon ... the Phoenix drop to 10-11 and 6-6 overall.
- Chattanooga improves to 17-2 all-time against Elon, including 8-1 at McKenzie Arena.
- UTC played without its top-two scorers - junior guard Kayla Christopher (10.3 ppg) was out with an illness & senior forward Whitney Hood (14.3) started but logged just two minutes of action due to sore knee.
- The UTC reserves were on fire as the Chattanooga bench outscored Elon's second team 44-8...add in the 18 points from sophomore Meghan Downes who started in place of Christopher and Chattanooga's second unit finished with 62 of the 80 points tonight. Faith Dupree came off the bench to lead all scorers with 24 while Ka'Vonne Townes added 11.
- Chattanooga came into the game last in the Southern Conference with 5.6 steals per game. They tied a season-high with 13 tonight, their most in SoCon action this season. It was also the most steals for UTC in a league game since getting 14 against UNCG on Feb. 1, 2010.
- Chattanooga's 80 points is the second-most this season and the most in a SoCon game.
- 17 assists is the most for Chattanooga in a SoCon game this season.
- Chattanooga improves to 9-0 at home.
- Lady Mocs are 15-0 when leading with two minutes to play this season.
- UTC outrebounded Elon 38-30...Chattanooga is 14-1 when outrebounding its opponent this season.
- Chattanooga came out of the gate on fire, shooting 18-33 (54.5%) from the field in the first half.
- Lady Mocs forced 19 turnovers, their highest total in a SoCon game this season...that led to 25 points...Elon had just nine points on 11 UTC turnovers.
INDIVIDUAL
Sophomore Meghan Downes
- First career-start in place of Kayla Christopher who was out with an illness.
- 18 points on 7-13 shooting, 3-6 from 3-pt. range and 1-2 from the FT line.
- Added three rebounds.
- Three assists tied a career-high.
- Second game in double-figures this season (19 at ETSU on Dec. 22).
Sophomore Faith Dupree
- Career-high and game-high 24 points off the bench.
- Tied for most points by a Lady Moc this season.
- Shot 9-18 from the field and 6-6 from the FT line.
- Added four boards and two steals.
- Career-high 27 minutes.
Sophomore Taylor Hall
- 10 points and a game-high 11 boards.
- Fourth double-double of the season.
- Shot 4-9 from the field, 1-3 from 3-pt. range and 1-3 from the FT line.
Freshman Ka'Vonne Towns
- Career-high 11 points off the bench.
- Shot 3-6 from the field and 5-6 form the FT line.
- Added four boards.
- Tied a career-high with three steals.
Senior Tenisha Townsend
- Career-high and game-high nine assists.
- Added four points and four boards.
- Just two turnovers in 33 minutes.
- Tied a career-high with three steals.
