Starmount Fall Classic - Day 1 (36 holes)
Record Day Provides Mocs 10-Shot Lead with 18 Left

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team is in the lead with 18 holes to play at the Starmount Fall Classic. The squad shot identical rounds of 289 (+5) for a school-record 36-hole total of 578.
“It was a good day,” Head Coach Colette Murray said. “I'm proud of them, and the way they ground it out today. We really executed our game plan.”
The Mocs lead Campbell (588) by 10 and Maryland (590) by 12. They did so behind the spectacular combined performance of Agathe Sauzon (Valence, France), Jordan Britt (Chattanooga) and Emily McLennan (Queensland, Australia). Each ranks in the top five with two shots separating the trio.
“That's what they're here to do…it's what is expected,” Murray added. “They expect it of themselves. Obviously, I am proud of them, and they are taking care of their business.”
Sauzon is one shot off the lead at minus one. She shot 70 in the morning and followed with a 71 in the afternoon. High Point's Sarah Bae is the leader at two under. Sauzon is tied for second with Campbell's Kaylin Yost.
Britt and McLennan are fourth and fifth, respectively. Britt matched Sauzon in the morning with her own 70 ending the day with a 72. Her 142 is a stroke clear of McLennan alone in fifth.
McLennan's even par 71 was two shots off the lead through 18 holes. She came back with a 72 for a one-over par 143 as three shots divide first and fifth.
Isabella Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) and Porsche Campbell (Vancouver, Canada) tied for the final counting score in round one at 78. Loza's 74 on the second 18 aided the Mocs in taking the 10-shot lead into tomorrow's final round.
Chattanooga returns to the tee at 9 a.m., Tuesday. It's paired with Campbell and Maryland beginning on holes 1-4 in the shotgun start. Click the live scoring link above or on the women's golf schedule page on GoMocs.com.
