The Chattanooga women's basketball team extended the nation's longest home court winning streak to 40 games with a 49-45 win over Villanova in the season opener for both teams tonight.

- The Mocs trailed 13-8 with 12:33 left in the first half when Villanova's Lauren Buford hit a three … UTC then went on a 17-2 run over the next 10 minutes to take control of the half and led 27-19 at the break.

- UTC built a 39-23 lead with 12:03 left in the game when Chelsey Shumpert hit a three … Mocs did not score for the next 5:11 until Moses Johnson made a FT … Villanova used that drought to score 12 unanswered to get back into the game … they trailed by two, 47-45 with 2:31 left, but that was as cose as they could get.

- UTC is now 2-1 all-time against Villanova, including a 50-40 win on March 18, 2005 and a 64-59 loss on Nov. 28, 2009.

- This is UTC's third win over a team in the Big East … UTC also defeated Rutgers 74-69 in the 2004 NCAA Tournament.

- The Mocs won despite shooting 4-19 from the field over the last 15 minutes of the game.
