University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis head coach Jeff Clark announced the signing of Mckenzie Barco to a National Letter of Intent today.  Barco is a four-star prep prospect from Jacksonville, Fla.

"Coming out of the state of Florida, one of the toughest regions for tennis in the country, Mckenzie has great tennis experience and knows how to compete on the court,” stated Clark.  “I know she will be a tremendous asset to our program."

Barco is the No. 31 rated recruit in the extremely competitive state of Florida, according to TennisRecruiting.net.  She is also No. 52 in the Southeast and No. 146 nationally.

The daughter of Barry and Robin Barco, Mckenzie placed third and fourth in two National Open 18s doubles tournaments.  She won three matches to qualify for the main draw in singles at the Girls 18s National Clay Courts in Memphis over the summer.

She has twice represented her home state of Florida in the USTA Zonals competition.  She trains at the Smith Stearns Tennis Academy in Hilton Head, S.C., and also works in Jacksonville Venus Williams coach David Witt.

Barco is the second top-150 women's tennis signee for the early period. Clark announced the addition of Sydney Patton to the program on Thursday.  Patting is the No. 2 prospect from South Carolina and ranked No. 123 in the nation, according to TennisRecruiting.net.
