Mocs Within a Shot of Furman with 18 Holes to Play

HILTON HEAD, S.C. --- Monday is “moving day” at the Southern Conference Women's Golf Championship and that's just what the Chattanooga Mocs did. The squad started the day tied for second seven shots out of the lead and ended it alone within one shot of Furman.
The Mocs shot 295 powered by Jordan Britt's (Chattanooga, Tenn.) three-under par 69 today. She was joined as Emily McLennan (Queensland, Australia) and Agathe Sauzon (Valence, France) with 75's and Isabella Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) with a 76.
McLennan remains the overall leader at plus four (148). She is a single stroke ahead of Britt in second, while Furman's Taylor Totland is third at 150. Sauzon is tied for eighth at 154.
The Paladins went into the day ahead by seven strokes. They increased to double digits during the round as the two teams battled. The Mocs were just one over at the turn, but still lost a stroke to the leaders. Furman was even on the day through 12 before struggling over the final six holes.
While the Paladins were playing the final half dozen at 13-over par, Chattanooga stayed steady. It played the first 12 holes at one over and ended it at plus six over the final six. Furman (606) and the Mocs (607) separated themselves from the pack. Elon is in third at 620, while Samford is in fourth at 621.
Today's 295 is the best second round tally in SoCon Tourney history for the Mocs and second lowest overall behind a four-over par 292 in 2011's final round. They return to the course Tuesday morning paired with Furman and Elon for an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start. Live scoring and tee times are linked above.
