Chattanooga Ends NCAA West Regional in 17th

CLE ELUM, Wash. --- It's never easy when it's over. The Chattanooga Mocs golf team ended its season finishing 17th at the NCAA West Regional at Tumble Creek at Suncadia Resort. Chattanooga completed its blustery 54 holes shooting 947.
The 947 was five strokes behind Tennessee in 16th and eight less than New Mexico in 15th. The Mocs were two ahead of Notre Dame (949), three from Denver (950) and seven clear of 20th-place Gonzaga (954).
Agathe Sauzon (Valence, France) paced Chattanooga with a 78 this afternoon. Jordan Britt (Chattanooga, Tenn.) shot 79, while Emily McLennan (Queensland, Australia) checked in with an 80. Isabella Loza (Bucaramanga, Colombia) completed the counting cards with an 82 as Porsche Campbell (Vancouver, Canada) turned in the drop score with an 85.
High winds wreaked havoc throughout the day. The course average was 79.56 on Saturday, more than a stroke higher than the 54-hole mark of 78.36.
Eight teams and two individuals from non-advancing squads move on to Tulsa, Okla., May 20-23 for the NCAA Championship. No. 1 USC (876) captured the team title by one over No. 11 Washington (877). No. 6 Arizona State, No. 7 Oklahoma, No. 23 Michigan State, Iowa State, Texas A&M and No. 19 Northwestern join the Trojans and Huskies qualifying for finals. Clariss Guce (CSU Northridge) and Tonje Daffinrud (Denver) are the two individuals to earn a trip to Tulsa.
McLennan paced the Mocs during the week shooting 233. Britt was next at 238 trailed closely by Sauzon at 239 and Loza at 240. Campbell added 242. Britt, the Southern Conference Golfer of the Year, is the squad's lone senior.
