Two members of the Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis team advanced to the main draw finals of the Mercer Bear Gridiron Classic today. Junior Nick Wingord and sophomore Austin Boaz will both compete for a title in Sunday's finals in Macon, Ga.
Wingord defeated junior teammate Luke Saunders (6-1, 6-4) in the Flight B semifinals today. Boaz scored a three-set win over Mercer's Austin Emmett (6-3, 2-6, 2-0 ret.) in the Flight C bracket.
Junior John Peacey and sophomore Derrick Brown both won in consolation singles action today. Doubles was scheduled to continue late in the evening, but weather forced the competitors off the courts. Action concludes tomorrow, so check back to GoMocs.com for complete results.
