Chattanooga Basketball Postgame Notes
Chattanooga at Furman
Timmons Arena – Greenville, S.C.
Monday – Jan. 12, 2015
Head Coach Jim Foster
On the defensive effort:
“They only had 23 points (at the half). When we picked up full court, it went to another level and we really started to get after it. Our halfcourt defense was decent.
“(Furman) played a very good defensive game. We had a couple players frustrated. (Keiana) is learning a new tactic against her today. Until she proves that is something you can't do to her people are going to do it to her.
“And (Jasmine) … it was a physical game. The player she was guarding got off her early and was getting some up and under things on Jas and Jas got frustrated. She rushed her offense.”
“Our two leading scorers were discombobulated. They were 6-for-31, but we never let them get away. We were always in position to get after them.
“We feel that they are a one-guard dominated team. We just made it really hard for her to run the offense. As a result, the passes started to get a little bit longer. We started to get in passing lanes and a lot of good things happened.”
On the spirited talk during the timeout before the final run that took the lead:
“I am truth teller. If you are willing to accept the truth and you will make adjustments when you hear it, you can make a change in a game as an individual and collectively. And I think that is what we did.”
On the play of Ka'Vonne Towns:
“I give Ka'Vonne a lot of credit. I told them at halftime, she was 0-2. Historically, when she misses a couple of shots, she stops being aggressive. She didn't do that. She was 3-4 in the second half and made a couple of big threes. Made some really big steals. Had seven rebounds. If you look at her line number, seven rebounds, eight points, three assists one turnover and five steals. That's nice work.”
