MOCS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL QUOTES
Game No. 21 | Chattanooga vs. Western Carolina | McKenzie Arena | Jan. 17, 2015

HEAD COACH JIM FOSTER
Does the number 22 assist jump out at you?
“Well no I mean it doesn't surprise me. We're a good passing team. We pass the ball a lot. We're a non-selfish team. Sometimes the shots don't drop, but when we're making shots we're going to have assist.”

Thoughts on afternoon games.
“Well I'm the one that suggested that we go to it. The answer is yes, especially when you're on the road. I think it's something to find out what our audience is. I think our fans probably enjoy it, and maybe we can get a few more. It's easier to get places in the day light than it is dark. So, we'll see.”

Thoughts on the girls comment about playing home vs away.
“If that's what they think. You have to win a lot of games on the road. And I don't know if we could have ever had more energy than we had the last nine minutes and x number of seconds at Furman. So I think that they say things because they have to, but I think if they truth be known, this team has a lot of energy wherever they are; home, away, neutral and that's a good thing.”

When you look at the stat sheet with all the turnovers and assist, does that make you feel better about what you see out of this team?
“You obviously want your team to play to escape ability. The next time that we play this team we are going to have to defend them off the bounce better. They're midrange jumpers and we're going in.  I've said before if a team is taking midrange jump shots, you're playing very good defense.  Cause percentage wise that's low percentage shots. But for them It might be their strength, so we might have to adjust to that. But generally speaking, when people are taking pull up jumpers, you're defense is pretty good. You're defending the three point line, and your rotating enough that they can't get to them rim for layups or fouls. So from that point it was good. We'll have to watch and make sure that that's not their strength.”

How much grip has this team developed?
“Yea, I think that's a good valid question.  Without a doubt our schedule has prepared us to play harder for longer periods of time. I look at the stat sheet and what I see is that we still played well with Jas only playing twenty-one minutes. A lot of our season she had to be on the floor for us to be successful.  Well Destiny gives us another dimension when she comes in to play that position, and she filled that today. Her stat sheet, he lines look pretty good. So it allowed us to sit Jas a little bit and work on some other aspects of our game.”

Thoughts on Sidney.
“Sidney can rebound, and the only reason she was there is that she got there and destiny; Destiny and her when they're in together they can be interchangeable neither of them as a traditional post player.  They're sort of not traditional. So therefor, they can both step out and shoot the threes; they can both score around the basket. What I liked about Sidney today was that she got some good rebounds in traffic.”

SOPHOMORE GUARD CHELSEY SHUMPERTY
Was there just an extra kick to the team being back home?
“Yes, we were glad to be back at home. I think it was really good we came back strong and with a lot of intensity. The energy was really high and we had momentum throughout the game.”

Momentum coming out of the first half into the second?
We just brought energy for the second half. We kept it going from the first half. I think the steals really gave us momentum throughout the game.”

What is your mindset when you are on offense? How do you determine when the pass is there and when it is your shot? (Concerning Career high Assist)
“Well I don't really think about it, I just play. I just compete as best I can and try to get the rest of the team involved. I think when we work together we are better as a group. So that's what I try to do.”

SENIOR GUARD/FORWARD KA'VONNE TOWNS
You guys had a lot of steals but not many fouls. What do you work on in practice to help that?
“We really work on moving our feet, keeping our hands off the ball cause they are calling the fouls now with the double touch. We really just try to work on moving our feet more, making the offense have to work harder.”

Are you guys looking forward to a stretch of home games next week?
“Yes, were ready to be back home. We love it here so were ready to be back.”

How did it feel to be back in front of the fans and to play so well?
“It's pretty awesome; I mean the atmosphere out here is just great. We do play away, we don't really have fans that come out but when we're here it just so much louder and just everybody is here for you so to speak.”
