MOCS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL QUOTES
Game No. 22 | Chattanooga vs. Furman | McKenzie Arena | Jan. 24, 2015

Head Coach Jim Foster
What did you tell Kiana in practice to get her ready for this game?
“'Make them guard you.' You know if you go at a person that's playing soft they have to now guard you; have to now engage you instead of you just taking jump shots. And she did a great job of that today.”

Were you happy with the way the team way moving the ball?
“Yeah, I think we have a very unselfish team and I think that they understand where our players are effective and they get the ball to them in those areas with a great deal of regularity.”

What did you do differently on defense since the last match up?
“We guarded them a little differently here than we did there. We'll probably guard them a little differently if we play them a third time. You just tweak things. We have a versatile team defensively. The starting five is a high IQ group. They are very smart basketball players, and therefor; you can do a lot of different things because they're basketball intelligence is off the charts both ends of the floor. They understand how to play. It's not a common thing today.”

Thoughts on Samford
“Samford's just an entirely different team than we play. They're going to be very patient; they're going to back cut you a lot. They want to shoot the three, they're going to move the ball. Their center is going to step out behind the three point line and shoot. They just play a little differently and we have to adjust to that difference.”

Freshman Guard Keiana Gilbert
On playing Furman today versus earlier in the season:
“When we went up there on the road, it kind of caught me of guard because they didn't guard me. So during practice, we went over what to do to make them guard me and how I could score, and it worked. I didn't pass as much. I looked for my own shot in the midrange area and if they didn't guard me I just shot it.”

On rematch against Furman:
“We knew that after a tough win at Furman, they would come to play hard today, so we just had to execute on offense and push the ball.

Senior Guard Ka'Vonne Towns
On playing defense against Furman:
“We just wanted to be more aggressive and shut them down. We kept our hands up, moved our feet, and made them have to take tough shots.”

On responding to Furman's fouls:
“We could tell that they were getting upset, so we just knew that we had to keep pushing and make a run so that they could foul, getting us to the free-throw line.”
