MOCS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL QUOTES
Game No. 24| Chattanooga vs. Mercer | McKenzie Arena | Jan. 31, 2015

Head Coach Jim Foster
On the game:
“I thought our execution was good. I thought defensively we did a very good job against Precious Bridges in the first half.”

On Mercer:
“[Precious] Bridges and [Kahlia] Lawrence are very good off the bounce. Overall, they are an old fashion team. They work on getting to the basket and they're going to take midrange jumpers. We are going to have to do a much better job on keeping Alicia Williams off the offensive boards next time we play them. She came from distance and we were switching a lot of things and I think people just got confused and didn't realize they were supposed to be on her when they were, so we'll get that squared away.”

On Chattanooga's ability to switch out:
“We have a very interchangeable defense. We have people who can move their feet and we're a team that doesn't foul a lot so that's a good combination.”

On Chattanooga's Keiana Gilbert:
“This is the kind of gave that she'll thrive in. The way they play gives her a lot of opportunities to sort of pick and choose. She's a good passer. She's a good finisher, so she had a lot of opportunities today to make some solid decisions.”

Sophomore Forward Jasmine Joyner
On her personal changes in the game:
“I told myself I wasn't going to get as frustrated as I did the last game. The coaches worked with me because I knew I was going to have to play against a taller player with a longer wingspan than mine. I just thought about reversing and running the floor.”

On defending Mercer's Precious Bridges:
“That was a focus. We always want to make other people handle the ball and do the scoring because they're not very comfortable with it.”

On getting their first week out of the way since being ranked nationally:
“It feels good so we just need to focus on our next game against ETSU.”

Sophomore Guard Chelsey Shumpert
On the play change from the first to second half:
“I think we were more aggressive. We were aggressive the first half but I think we came out with a lot of energy in the second half. We moved the ball and played great defense.”

On Chattanooga's focus on defense:
“We just wanted to interrupt them a little bit. On defense, we had to stay in the passing lanes, rebound as much as we could and just have a presence.”
