The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team dropped their match today against the conference leading ETSU Bucs, 7-0. The Mocs came into the match with energy and excitement as today was Senior Day, but they ultimately fell short to the Buccaneers.

ETSU began the day by sweeping the doubles early, winning each match by a score of 8-4. This would give the Bucs the 1-0 advantage over Chattanooga as they headed into singles.

David Biosca started things off for ETSU at No. 1 as he defeated sophomore Lucas Plesky (6-0, 6-0) in straight sets. Conner Huertas put the Bucs up 3-0 in the match, posting a (6-3, 6-0) win over sophomore Nic Wilson at No. 4.

ETSU secured the overall win when Sebastian Yllera finished with a (6-3, 6-3) win over junior Nick Wingord at No. 3. The Mocs continued to fight despite the loss. At No. 6, junior John Peacey battled back in the second set but would lose the match to Ricardo Pabon by a score of 6-1, 7-6 (3).

ETSU continued their success when Diego Nunez posted a (6-1, 7-5) win over junior Luke Saunders at No. 2. Senior Gino Delavalle battled back after falling 6-1 in the first set to Ismael Merino, but fell just short of the win in the second set by a score of 7-6(5) at No. 5.

“It is a tough team to play on Senior Day but it's a match that we have been looking forward to due to the history of our programs,” stated head coach Carlos Garcia. “There is just history and they are honestly probably the standard to which we are trying to catch up to.

We do have the opportunity to put our stamp down on the facility tomorrow against Dalton State. We are treating it as a conference match and will see if we can get this thing turned around.”

Chattanooga drops to 4-14 and 1-5 in the Southern Conference while ETSU improves to 12-7 and remains undefeated at 5-0 in conference play.
