
Mocs Claim Inaugural Chattanooga Classic Crown

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.---The Chattanooga Mocs not only captured the inaugural Chattanooga Classic at Council Fire Golf Club today, they extend a streak. For the eighth straight year, the program has at least one victory during the campaign.
The Mocs closed with a 5 over par 293 for the 15-stroke triumph over Central Arkansas (902). Western Kentucky was third at 915. The 293 ties for the third-lowest round of 2014-15, while the 887 total is the top 54-hole total. Vanderbilt's Morgan Ransom won medalist at 2 under (214). She won by three over Jacksonville State's Melania Bajo Geijo who closed strong with a 3 under 69 for her 1 over 217.
Isabella Loza was a model of consistency finishing a career-best fourth at 3 over (219). Her even-par 72 today followed rounds of 74 and 73 as her 219 ties Agathe Sauzon for low 54-hole score this season and is the lowest of her two-plus year career.
Emily McLennan had the round of the day for the Mocs with a 2-under 70. She tied for fifth, one shot behind Loza at 220. Sauzon ended up tied for ninth at 224, while Cris Perez was 15th at 228. Megan Woods tied for 27th shooting 234 to complete the team effort. Sarah Dolmovich had a career-best 1 over 73 playing as an individual today. She tied for 12th at 227 (+11), as DeeDee Russell complete her tourney in 33rd (237).
This completes Chattanooga's regular season. The squad begins defense of its Southern Conference Championship Sunday at Savannah Quarters Country Club in Pooler, Ga. The Mocs have won five in a row and boast the last four individual titleists.
