Head coach Jim Foster On UNCG's run in the third quarter. "I think sometimes because you have a degree of success, the expectation is for you to dominate these things. The news is that this league is tired of our success, and they are going to play hard every time they play us. Basketball is a game of runs, especially now since we've gone to quarters."
Â
On timeouts late in the game. "There's four stoppages in each half, and you have to guard your timeouts. With the rule that lets you advance the ball with under a minute left in the game, you want to guard those things judiciously. It can mean the difference between struggling against the press, inbounding from half court and putting the ball in your best foul shooter's hands a lot easier.
Â
"There's a lot of strategy that gets expedited by that rule change. So get used to the games being more competitive because all of these rule changes are to advance the game on offense and make it a better game to watch. The timeouts and advancing bring some more interesting strategies to the game, and it's good for the game."
Â
On Alicia Payne's late-game block. "You can tell a lot about her demeanor and posture where she's from after she blocks a shot. That was pure Memphis. It wasn't a Philly block, wasn't a New York block. That was a Memphis block."

Aryanna Gilbert, guard, sophomoreHow good did it feel playing well in a tight game?"It felt good being able to help my team again be out there playing with them again. Before the game one of the coaches told me if a number of players were guarding me to just go straight to the block and take advantage of that."
On the third quarter."We saw the disadvantages. They were doubling up on Jasmine on the block, so we made some adjustment and got me on the block. We just found a way to score."
Jasmine Joyner, forward, juniorTo weather the storm and get through this game, what does that say about the win?"We knew this team was going to play hard and play aggressive. They're very good. They have really good players, and they also have a number of other players that come off the bench that's good. Coach Foster told us it was a good game, but it was also a game to learn from."
"We have to tighten up our defense. We have to box out. This time they got lots of second chances because we tried to out-jump them. It was a good game. We played hard, and we just have to tighten up a few things."
Do you feel like it was more of on you all or UNCG that they came back in the second half?""We just had to tighten up our defense. We kind of got casual on our part. We have to play hard for forty minutes. We have to play patient, cut down turnovers, and not play too fast. If we get all tight, the other teams might try to do quick shots and that's where it's our game to be patient and find a good shot to take."
Do you see now why you play those tough games in November against UCONN and Stanford?"Yes, it brings us closer together. I can say these last few conference games brought us closer together. When it comes tight at the end of games, no one is getting frustrated or getting all worked up because we've been through this. We bring each other closer as a team, and we respect one another."
