The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team looks to get back to its winning ways when it returns home for a Southern Conference contest against VMI.  The eighth-ranked Mocs host the Keydets on Saturday, Oct. 22.  Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) at Finley Stadium.

UTC is 6-1 overall and in second place in the SoCon race with a 4-1 mark following last weekend's 22-14 loss at No. 8 The Citadel.  VMI brings a 3-3 record that includes a 1-2 tally in league play.

The Mocs are trying to reach seven wins in a season for the fourth year in a row.  That would earn the 2016 senior class the most successful four-year run in school history.  Their current 33 wins over the last four years are tied with both the 2015 and 1980 classes.

VMI is trying to reach four wins in a season for the first time since 2008.  The Keydets have non-conference wins over Morehead State (17-13) and Bucknell [23-17 (OT)] and a SoCon victory against ETSU (37-7).  Their league losses are against Mercer [33-30 (OT)] and last week's 55-21 defeat at No. 24 Samford.

FCS RANKINGS
The Mocs dropped to No. 8 in the FCS Coaches Poll after last weekend's loss at The Citadel.  Chattanooga is No. 11 in the STATS FCS Top 25, the other poll officially recognized by the NCAA.  UTC has been ranked for 43 consecutive weeks, the sixth longest streak in the FCS.

HAMILTON COUNTY EDUCATION DAY
Saturday's game welcomes one of the biggest groups of the year with the Hamilton County Education Day.  A number of local elementary schools sold tickets to this game as a fundraiser, while the students who participated received free admission.  In return, student-athletes from UTC visit each of these schools to promote physical fitness and the importance of succeeding in the classroom later in the semester.

BAND DAY
The VMI game is also Band Day, hosted by the UTC Marching Band.  A number of local high school bands perform with the Mocs during game and as a part of the halftime show.

Tickets are available at the UTC Ticket Office by calling (423) 266-MOCS (6627) or online on GoMocs.com.  In addition to the regular business hours of the UTC Ticket Office (10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. M-F) at McKenzie Arena, the First Tennessee Pavilion ticket window at Finley Stadium opens on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 10:00 a.m.  All other ticket windows open at 11:00 a.m. on gameday.

MOCS RIDE LONG HOME WINNING STREAK IN SOCON PLAY
Chattanooga has won 13 SoCon home games in a row.  Its last league loss at home was against No. 2 Georgia Southern (38-31 OT) on Oct. 27, 2012.  UTC has won 23 of 26 home league games since the start of the 2013 season.

SENIORS GOING FOR SCHOOL RECORD FOR WINS
The 2016 senior class has a 33-13 record with three SoCon titles.  That is tied with the 2015 and 1980 seniors for most wins by a class in school history.  Coach Huesman's 1981 class is fourth all-time at UTC with 31 wins.

6-7-8-9-WIN SEASONS
The Mocs have put up some unprecedented numbers since head coach Russ Huesman took over in 2009.  During that time, UTC has posted seven winning seasons, which is an amazing accomplishment consider there were only 30 of those in the entire history of the program prior to his arrival.

7-win seasons - 21 overall - 3 under head coach Russ Huesman
