HANAHAN, S.C.---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team shot its best opening round of the season with a 3-over par 291 at Yeamans Hall Sunday. Freshman
Maddy McDanel led the way with a 1-under par 71.
Â
She's tied for 22nd overall. Her -1 was one better than
Monica San Juan's level-par 72.
Cristina Perez and
Holly Morgan rounded out the counters shooting 73 and 75, respectively.
Megan Woods' 82 served as the drop number.

The 291 is the third-lowest card of the season for the Mocs. It puts the squad tied for 11th with Penn State, two behind Louisville at +1. Maryland trails UTC and PSU by a shot with Arkansas and Clemson tied for 14th at +5.

Furman is the leader at 278. North Carolina is second at 281, with Wake Forest another stroke back in third with a 282. The Demon Deacons' Sierra Sims sits atop the player leaderboard at -6.
