CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- With temperatures pushing into the 80s on a brilliantly clear day, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's and women's cross country teams each finished fourth at the Southern Conference Championships Saturday morning at the Camp Jordan Race Course.

Junior Brennan Hubert (Manchester, Tenn.) and senior Paul Stuart (Brentwood, Tenn.) earned All-Conference Second Team honors for the Mocs. Nearly every single Chattanooga runner recorded either a personal record (PR) or a season-best time.

Huber was the first Chattanooga runner across the line placing 11^th overall in a time of 24:33.88, a PR for the transfer. He was followed by Stuart, two-time all-conference performer, who also recorded a PR. He covered the 8-kilometer course in a time of 24:36.03, placing 13^th overall for his second straight all-conference finish.

Sophomore transfer Gavin Hasty (Brentwood, Tenn.) had a strong race, running a season-best time of 25:17.25 for 29^th overall and freshman Nathan Watson (Hendersonville, Tenn.) was 30^th with a PR time of 25:24.49. Sophomore Richard Guiry (Nashville, Tenn.), was the fifth scoring runner over the line for Chattanooga, covering the course in a PR time of 25:25.49.

Sophomore John Payne (Portland, Tenn.), senior Austin Casassa (Nashville, Tenn.) and sophomore Mark Britt (Lebanon, Tenn.) all topped their previous best times in the race and senior Trevor Janssen, running his final SoCon Championship, posted a season-best time.

The men were fourth overall. Furman claimed a fourth straight SoCon title, led by SoCon Runner of the Year Frank Lara who finished with a time of 23:16.44. The Paladins placed six runners in the Top 10 for a score of 22 points. Samford was second with 51 points followed by ETSU in third with 93 points. Chattanooga had 113 points followed by VMI (117), Wofford (218), Western Carolina (219), UNCG (220), The Citadel (221) and Mercer with 271.

In the women's race, the Mocs finished fourth, just two points behind third place ETSU with 113 points. Furman was the champion for the fourth straight year with 24 points. Samford's Karisa Nelson was the women's individual champion finishing in a time of 16:22.62, leading the Bulldogs to a runner-up finish with 47 points.

Senior Maddison Melchionna (Afton, Tenn.) was the 16^th overall finisher in the women's 5K race with a time of 17:58.93, a PR for the indoor and outdoor track school-record holder in the 800 meter. Freshman Kennedy Thomson (Catharine's, Ontario) had a tremendous race, moving up in the order of finish for UTC, placing 19^th overall with a time of 18:03.24, a PR in her rookie season with the Mocs.

Anna Kate Chance (Columbia, Tenn.), a 2015 All-Conference performer, was the third UTC runner in the race with a PR time of 18:16.52. Fellow senior Jessica York (Normandy, Tenn.) topped her season-best time placing 26^th overall in a time of 18:29.42. Freshman Hannah Caldwell (Brentwood, Tenn.) was the Mocs final scoring runner, finishing 35^th out of 81 runners with a PR time of 18:46.28.

Freshmen Julia Henderson (Brentwood, Tenn.) and Haley Morris (Lenoir City, Tenn.) each also record personal best times in the race.

The Mocs will prepare for the upcoming NCAA South Region Friday, November 11 hosted by Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla.
