Mocs Remain Tied with Penn State at Cougar Classic

Cristina Perez tied her career-best 18-hole score carding 69 matching another career low with a 36-hole 142 for the Chattanooga Mocs at Yeamans Hall.

HANAHAN, S.C.---Cristina Perez's 69 (-3) tied for the season-low card for the Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team Monday afternoon at the Cougar Classic. Perez matched her season-high with five birdies.
 
The 69 led a 294 effort. The Mocs are at 585 through 36 holes tied with Penn State. The two programs are one behind N.C. State in 12th and four clear of Wisconsin in 15th.
 
Megan Woods fired 73 (+1) to rank second to Perez this day. Holly Morgan (75) and Monica San Juan (77) rounded out the team score with Maddy McDanel's 80 serving as the drop score.
 
Perez is tied for 18th overall matching her career-best for 18 (69) and 36-hole scores sitting at 2-under 142. San Juan is next at 149, one ahead of Morgan at 150. McDanel is another back with a 151, while Woods tally is 155.
 
The 291 is the third-lowest card of the season for the Mocs. It puts the squad tied for 11th with Penn State, two behind Louisville at +1. Maryland trails UTC and PSU by a shot with Arkansas and Clemson tied for 14th at +5.
 
Furman and North Carolina are in a duel at the top of the leaderboard. The Paladins are 18 under, one north of the Tar Heels at -17. UCF and Wake Forest are tied for third at 567 (-9). First round leader Sierra Sims (Wake Forest) and Natalie Srinivasan (Furman) are locked in first at -9.
 
Tuesday's final round is a 9 a.m., shotgun start. The Mocs are in a four-some with the Nittany Lions, Badgers and Mississippi State opening on holes 11-14. Click the links above for complete 36-hole results, live scoring and pairings.
