McLennan Finishes in Top 30 at NCAA Regionals

Emily McLennan completed her collegiate career tying for 29th at the NCAA Shoal Creek Regionals.

SHOAL CREEK, Ala.---Chattanooga Mocs senior Emily McLennan tied for 29th at the NCAA Shoal Creek Regionals. She completed her collegiate career with a 79 Saturday to shoot 231 (+15).
Stingy Shoal Creek Country Club proved to be a strong test.
"Overall, it wasn't a good day," she explained. "I wasn't quite hitting it solid, and my putting wasn't great. It was a struggle. This course is a grind from start-to-finish. You really couldn't find an easy par much less an easy birdie to get the round going.
"Just not hitting it as solidly as I did the first two rounds made it a difficult day."
It was a rough start with bogeys at one, three and five. A birdie on six looked to turn it around before bogeys at seven and nine.
After a double bogey on 14, she continued to battle with a birdie on 15. But it was not meant to be ending up at +7.
McLennan finished the season averaging a school-record 73.34 strokes per round. She also set new season marks for par or better rounds (14) and rounds in the 60s (6) as well as career rounds in the 60s (10).
"It's a little disappointing finishing this way," she continued. "But looking back on the year, I'm proud of what I've achieved. Especially considering the workload of senior year school-wise. Being able to achieve success athletically and academically…it's just been a great year."
Northwestern (887), Florida State (905), Oklahoma State (907), Alabama (908), Tennessee (912) and Michigan (916) are the six teams advancing to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. Marianne Li of Cal (+4), Lauren Stephenson from Clemson (+7) and August Kim from Purdue (+9) earned the three individual berths.
