Mocs Move into Tie for 5th with 18 Holes Remaining at Vanderbilt

Cristina Perez turned in a blemish-free 70 today with two birdies and 16 pars.

FRANKLIN, Tenn.---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team shot 295 (+7) today to move up two spots on the leaderboard into a tie for fifth with Auburn at the Mason Rudolph Championships. The 587 total is three behind UCF in fourth and one clear of Virginia lurking in seventh.
 
Junior Cristina Perez had a flawless card shooting 2-under 70 on the Vanderbilt Legends Club North Course. She posted two birdies and 16 pars to pace the Mocs run up the ladder.
 
Monica San Juan turned in a 73 (+1) in support of Perez. Megan Woods and Holly Morgan each carded 76 (+4) with Maria Pineiro's 79 (+7) serving as the drop score. Maddy McDanel had a 77 (+5) playing as an individual.
 
Woods and Perez are tied for 16th at 2 over (146). That's three shots out of the top 10. Morgan is another shot back at 3 over, while San Juan and McDanel are tied for 42nd at 150. Pineiro is four off their pace with 154.
 
Alabama fired 10-under 278 led by individual leader Cheyenne Knight (-9). The Crimson Tide (562) leads by 18 over Northwestern (580) in second and is 19 clear of SMU (581) in third. Knight has a four-stroke lead over a pair at 5 under.
