FRANKLIN, Tenn.---It was an impressive week for the Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team. The ladies followed up a tie for ninth in Knoxville with a tie for fifth at the Mason Rudolph Championships with Auburn. The 879 54-hole total is 16 better than the program has turned in over three prior visits to the Vanderbilt Legends Club North Course.

After wins over Wake Forest, Ole Miss and Virginia Tech earlier in the week, Chattanooga claimed victories over host Vanderbilt (2 shots), Baylor (4), 2016 NCAA Championship Match Play Qualifier Virginia (7) and NCAA Regionals participants Houston (9), Tulane (11) and Michigan State (30).

"Overall, I'm pleased for the entire week," coach Colette Murray stated. "It was a real grind…a real test. I think we've shown a little of what we're capable of doing."

The Mocs turned in 4-over 292 over today's final 18. Sophomore Monica San Juan's 1-under 71 paced today's effort with junior Cristina Perez and freshman Holly Morgan each at 72 (E). Junior Megan Woods tallied 77 (+5) with freshman Maria Pineiro posting the drop score with 79.

Perez tied for 15th over at 2 over (218). Morgan was one behind, tied for 18th at 3 over with San Juan another two back at 5 over. Woods tied for 34th, at 7 over. Freshman Maddy McDanel played as an individual carding even-par 72 today to tie for 30th at 222 (+6).

"I feel like one through six, we are really solid…six really solid players," Murray added. "We are off to a great start, we just need to keep working hard and continue doing the things we've been doing."

Alabama ran away with the team title shooting 825, 39 under. SMU was second, 43 shots off the pace, at 4-over 868. Northwestern (871) and UCF (876) ended up third and fourth. The Crimson Tide's Cheyenne Knight was the wire-to-wire winner with a 14-under 202.

The Mocs are off until October 2-4. Next up is the Powerade Cougar Classic at Youmans Hall Club in Hanahan, S.C., just outside Charleston. Links for live scoring and tournament notes, when available, are on GoMocs.com.
