CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs are in sixth after an opening 304 at the Palmetto Intercollegiate. It was a consistent effort on a blustery, rainy round.
Megan Woods led the squad with a 3-over 75. Two strokes separated the quintet with
Cristina Perez and
Holly Morgan shooting 76s.
Monica San Juan and
Maddy McDanel both turned in 77s.
That puts the Mocs two shots out of fifth-place behind host College of Charleston and two ahead of No. 48 Campbell in seventh. Southern Conference rivals Mercer (307) and ETSU (314) are in eighth and 16th, respectively.
Ole Miss cobbled together the round of the day with a 2-over 290. That's five better than Old Dominion in season at 295. The Rebels Dian Lim holds the early lead with a 68 (-4).
Chattanooga was in position for a top 3 spot through 15 holes. The ladies were 8 over at that point before dropping eight shots over the final three.
