RESULTS

KIAWAH ISLAND---Senior Cristina Perez posted her first top 10 of the season tying for 10th at the Palmetto Intercollegiate. Perez shot 6-over, 222, for the 54 holes.

That led the Chattanooga Mocs to a seventh-place finish. The 901 total was completed by a final round 300 topping Mercer by 5 in eighth and Kansas in ninth by seven strokes. SoCon rivals UNCG (915) and ETSU (918) finished 12th and 13th, respectively.

Perez and Monica San Juan had matching 74s to pace the Mocs over the final 18. Holly Morgan and Megan Woods rounded out the counting cards with 76s. Maddy McDanel had the drop tally with an 80.

Perez began her day on the par 3 fourth hole in a shotgun start. Birdies at the fifth, 10th and 16th holes surrounded pars as she was 3 under through 13. There was a rough patch from there with three bogeys capped by a double at two. Her round ended with a par on three.

Her 222 was five better than San Juan and Morgan who tied for 31st, one stroke out of the top 25. McDanel ended up with 231, one clear of Woods at 232.

Ole Miss claimed the crown shooting 883. That topped runner-up Kennesaw State by eight at 891. The Rebels Diane Lim won medalist honors with a 3-under 213.

3 NOTES TO KNOW
  • Fifth career top 10 for Perez.
  • 32 birdies on the counting cards is a season high. Last time the squad topped 30 in an event was last year's Palmetto Intercollegiate notching 31. The Cougar Classic, two events prior to that, is the last event with 32 or more as the Mocs recorded 34.
  • 6 under on the par 5s ties season best (Mason Rudolph Champ.). 23 over on the par 3s is nine shots greater than the Mocs turned in over the first two events combined (+14).

COMING UP
The Mocs close out the fall portion of the 2017-18 schedule with a trip to Dallas, Texas for the Trinity Forest Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event, is hosted by SMU at Trinity Forest Golf Club.
