Women’s Golf Tops Top 25 Program Finishing 10th in Texas

Cristina Perez matched Megan Woods tying for 30th at the Trinity Forest Invitational to pace the Chattanooga Mocs.

RESULTS

DALLAS---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team finished 10th against a stellar field at the Trinity Forest Invitational Tuesday. The Mocs 923 total was one ahead of Campbell and four clear of 22nd-ranked UNLV.

The ladies shot 310 over their final 18. Holly Morgan led the way with a 76. Cristina Perez and Monica San Juan each tallied 77, while Megan Woods and Maddy McDanel both carded 80s.

It was a frustrating finish despite the top 25 win. UTC was 8-over through the par 3 eighth hole. The team had between four and seven holes remaining after beginning the day on holes 13-16 in a shotgun start. The counting cards played 14 over the rest of the way.

Perez and Woods tied for 30th overall at 15-over 231. The duo beat one top 50 performer, No. 45 Anna Newell of Tennessee, by five, and another top 100, No. 95 Ayelen Irizar from Campbell, by nine. Monica San Juan also bested the ranked pair ending up 37th at 233.

Morgan tied Newell in 45th at 236. McDanel was one behind them at 237.

Kansas State was the team champion shooting 893 with a final round 302. That beat No. 27 Houston by two at 895. KSU's Reid Isaac won medalist honors with a 1-under 215.
