Postgame Quotes

Jim Foster, Head Coach

On the play of Shelbie Davenport.
"We had some big shots. Just taking them was big. Shelbie [Davenport] pulled out a great game for us. She is just hard to guard in the open floor because you have no idea what she will do. She can ball fake and going over either shoulder. They were extended out defensively to take away our perimeter players and that left her in a good position. She has an old-fashioned game and played modern-age defense."

On the total team effort to win.
"Everybody that went in contributed something. Our two seniors, in the fourth quarter, decided they were going to win the game. Defensively, they were communicating and engaging the team. They wanted it."

On what helped spark fourth quarter run.
"We did a good job in those two quarters of following the game plan. In the second and third quarter we were kind of finding our way. When we got back to what we had practiced for two days, it made their threes ones they didn't want to take and took their drive away. We made some good adjustments in the fourth quarter to get back to the game plan."

Shelbie Davenport, R-Jr.-G/F
On scoring seven-straight points and leading comeback win over FGCU.
"I feel like with our lineup we have a ton of great scorers. I just have to be ready when my number is called. With all the attention on them, I always have to be ready for that moment. We felt like we were the better team and we just had to prove it."

On playing more aggressively.
"It's every day. Take a shot when you have it. We have to grow up. Basketball is something we have done our entire lives and coach Foster tells us that. There's no reason to be timid or scared to take a shot."

Aryanna Gilbert, Sr.-G
On mindset during comeback in fourth quarter.
"It was proving what we can do. Attacking the rim, making stops, scoring .. things like that is what we wanted to prove."

On the ability of others stepping up and scoring.
"It's huge. The more scorers we have, the better we're going to be. It's a big help. We had to grow up and get stops. That's what we were focusing on at the end of the game."
