Chattanooga vs. Western Carolina
Southern Conference Tournament - Quarterfinals
Asheville, N.C. - U.S. Cellular Center
postgame quotes
Chattanooga head coach Jim Foster
On the team's performance
"I thought we moved the ball well and we talked. When we do those two things, we're going to upset some
pretty good teams."
Â
On how shooting 3-pointers has opened up more for the team offensively
"We've gradually started to become a better 3-point shooting team in the last three weeks or so. That
makes us a better team, because we have players that can go to the basket and it stretches the other team
out."
Â
On facing either Furman or UNCG in the next round
"They're both good and well-coached teams. The more you progress in the season, the better teams you're
going to play. This is the time where you need to be playing your best and making sure your team
understands what is at stake. We're just going to roll it out. Both are good teams, well-coached with tough
kids. I look forward to playing either one of them."
Â
Chattanooga senior center Jasmine Joyner
Â
On the importance of having a good start
"It was very important. We talked about things we needed to work on and adjust to, and I think we adjusted
well. It's important to start the tournament off with good energy, to communicate and to play team ball.
That's what we did today."
Â
On having fun during today's game
"When you start like that, other players get to come in. We get to see them play and play with them; that
makes the game even more fun. The best part was definitely when Molly (Melton) hit the 3; that was
exciting and fun to be a part of."
Â
Chattanooga redshirt junior guard Chelsey Shumpert
Â
On having fun during today's game
"It was fun to play like that. Like (Joyner) said, a lot of communication, moving the ball and just playing
together. When you play together, cohesive, and as one, it's just fun to play like that. So we'll continue and
keep the intensity throughout the tournament."
