STATS/NOTES
GREENVILLE, S.C.---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team is tied for ninth after 18 holes at the Lady Paladin Invitational. The squad's 303 at Furman Golf Club matches Augusta with 36 holes remaining over the next two days.
Senior
Cristina Perez had the Mocs low round. Her 2-over par 74 is tied for 18th, one ahead of sophomore
Maddy McDanel in 23rd at +3.
Megan Woods is another stroke back with a 4-over 76.
Holly Morgan and
Monica San Juan each carded 78s.
It was a stingy tract with UTC recording just seven birdies, six on the counting cards. Perez had two of that total with one at the par 5 13th, her fourth hole of the day, and on the par 3 fourth, which was the 13th in the round that started on No. 10.
McDanel got off to a slow start. Bogeys on her first three looked ominous, but she got one back on the par 3 14th with a birdie two. Nine straight pars preceded a bogey on the sixth closing out at par for her 75.
Chattanooga and Augusta are just three shots behind eighth-place Memphis at 300. Southern Miss lurks in 11th at 304. The Mocs are six clear of LSU (309) in 14th and eight ahead of Ole Miss (311) in 15th.
Daytona State has the lead with a 4-under 284. That's built behind Jiwon Jeon's tournament-record 64 (-8). Virginia Tech is second at E.
