Postgame Quotes
Jim Foster, Head Coach
On what went right tonight in win over UNCG.
"We were taking care of the ball and guarding well, shots just weren't falling. We just kept doing what we were doing defensively. I thought our freshmen did a great job and I think the players who haven't been healthy are getting healthier and are able to contribute for us in these games. We didn't have this depth two games ago. We just have more depth, more parts and pieces and we'll progress accordingly. That's a talented team we just played, with great physicality and size."
On building on adjustments throughout the game.
"We take what the other team gives us. They were extended on Lakelyn [Bouldin] and Ary [Gilbert]. That made feeding the post a lot easier so that became our best option. And as the game progressed, our players just needed to make good decisions."
On playing a physical team like UNCG.
"When you come to work, you better pull your shorts up and play really hard when you play against someone that physical. The fact that they stood up to the physicality and we were getting on the floor. All that stuff matters. We understand we're a target in this league. That all comes with the territory."
Aryanna Gilbert, R-Sr.-G
On battling through tough shooting night.
"I think our games before have prepared us for this moment. When the shots aren't falling, we have to rely on our defense."
On trying to build a lead.
"Some nights shots just aren't falling. We just wanted to get stops and not foul. We didn't want them to get a three-point shot off and we knew we had to also box out. Things like that we focused on."
On play of the freshmen.
"Our freshmen are growing up and they're going to help us tremendously down the road. We can be a really good team when they fully get on board."
Keiana Gilbert, Sr.-G
On the trend of the game.
"This game was very physical for us so it came down to toughness. Either team wasn't scoring much so we had to get stops on defense."
On getting stops in third quarter.
"That was a big key for us. It was a close game so I think our defense helped us offensively by pushing up on them and trying to score."
