CHATTANOOGA---Football season is in full swing. Volleyball is coming off a huge home win Wednesday and soccer fights for the top of the table with three matches remaining. The first true signs of fall are in the air. It's definitely time to talk about basketball season as it quickly approaches.
Â
The Chattanooga Mocs men's and women's programs are well into preparation for their 2018-19 campaigns. There's a lot of newness to both so with that in mind, head coaches
Katie Burrows and
Lamont Paris are excited to share McKenzie Arena's court for an evening.
Â
"It will be a fantastic night for Mocs of all ages," Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics
Mark Wharton stated. "Our external staff did a great job coming up with an evening that is interactive, fun and really allows people with varying interests a chance to express those while getting to know our student-athletes.
Â
"We have an amazing collection of young ladies and men. It's great to celebrate them and our fans together in one event."
Â
THE BASICS
The Mocs Basketball Tipoff Event is Tuesday, October 30. That's two days clear of the men's exhibition contest against Lee on November 1 and a week ahead of the ladies season opener vs. the Flames on Nov. 6.
Â
Burrows is in her first season in the first chair taking over for Hall of Famer Jim Foster. Paris enters his second at the helm of the men's squad with a plethora of new faces. There's a lot to introduce.
Â
But that's why there's a Mocs Basketball Tipoff Event. It begins at 6:30 p.m., with an interactive program allowing young and old a chance to meet all of their Mocs and maybe even try their hand at displaying their own hoops abilities. There are game and skill stations managed by the student-athletes covering knockout, free throws and dribbling. Artists can render their interpretations of the players with photo and autograph areas as well.
Â
Concessions will be available during the event as well.
Â
TRICK OR TREAT
Come in your Halloween finest. There's candy at every station for those decked out in holiday splendor and the top costume earns a special prize.
Â
SPECIAL GUESTS
