Postgame Quotes vs. Central Michigan

Chattanooga Basketball Postgame Quotes
Central Michigan vs. Chattanooga
John Paul Jones Arena – Charlottesville, Va.
Sunday – Nov. 25, 2018

Head Coach Katie Burrows
Overall thoughts on the game:
"This is a very good basketball team.  They are very disciplined and they play fundamental.  Sue does a good job with them.  She's got them running their stuff with efficiency and they take really good care of the ball.  We were actually able to turn them over quite a bit today, which is rare.  She cleared her bench and was able to get some of those kids some minutes so that probably did some things to her stats.

"We have to work on things that we have been saying we need to work on since Day 1.  Our team defense was not there today.  We were not doing our actions properly with ball screens or handoff actions.

"The Hudson kid, she is a fun kid to watch … I didn't enjoy watching her today because she was working us.  She has deep range, but she can also put the ball on the floor.  She posed a challenge so we tried to put some length on her and her and rotate some different people on her.  We held her under her average, but not by much.  We did some good things, but overall, with a team like that, we can't relax on the defensive end and we did that quite a bit.

"Obviously, we didn't shoot the ball very well.  We have to get in there and get more free throws up.  We can't be shooting 50% from the foul line."

On being consistent:
"We started out strong.  We couldn't hit some shots, but we were doing some good things on the defensive end.  It is always easier when you are making shots, so we have to learn how to grind when we are not.  That is why we spend so much time on defense.  When we are not hitting, we have to be able to rely on our defense.  73 points is too much in the grand scheme of things, especially when we are only scoring 50.

"I keep going back to these turnovers.  We are playing teams that are not really pressuring us that much.  They are just sitting back.  Tonight, they played a matchup zone and then they went man and we didn't adjust very well.  We tried to run some of our stuff that we have been running the past and we just didn't make those adjustments."

On the grind of four games in a week:
"It is tomorrow, because we have another game on Wednesday.  It is a grind.  We have to get after it from one day to the next.  It is just like the conference tournament.  You play a game and then you play the next day if you win.  They have to be able to make that transition much quicker.  That is why we are doing this."
