Chattanooga Basketball Postgame Quotes
Wofford at Chattanooga

Head Coach Jim Foster
On the way they played tonight verses Thursday night
"They figured some stuff out. When we are playing that way, moving the ball and moving ourselves, we're a hard team to guard. We've been guarding ourselves as much as our opponents have been."

On four players scoring double figures
"I'd like to get used to it.  I could easily get used to it. I could easily go with five or six."

Is there a little frustration when you don't see this kind of play consistently?
"No. Not when you have as many freshman as we have. I just don't throw freshman out there until they are cognizant on how we like to play and how you should play basketball. It's taken a couple longer than others.

"I think Brooke has figured some stuff out. She had to get into the mold of doing the little things that would help us. When you look at the stat sheet and you see that she had eight rebounds. That's a real good sign for a guard.  She's had a lot of different responsibilities playing basketball. For this team she's got to plug in and do some things. Five assist and eight rebounds; we know she can put the ball in the basket. She's learned that at guard a little bit. She's much better defensively.

"Mya [Long] played with a slow and quick. Her tendency has been to play fast. you can't play basketall fast. Ro[chelle Lee] has helped us, Bria [Dial] has helped us. Our freshman are getting ready for the right time of year.

"The objective of this league is to win three games in four days. That's the objective. And to be good enough when you get there to be able to do that. That's the only way you can guarantee yourself being in the NCAA Tournament.  I said before the only players that understand that in this league are on this team. So the freshman had to get to the point that they have a better understanding of what it is we expect and what it is we want. Now they've earned the right to be out there a little more. They've proven that their lessons are well learned by their play today."

On Mya Long's play
"I liked Mya's tempo. She only rushed one shot and that missed the basket by three feet, so sometimes you can teach yourself a lesson. She knew it. Good players learn how to fix things on the fly and players that don't get that and don't understand, they continue to make mistakes again, and again, and again. I think she made a 3 after the air ball which would show you that she figured it out which you like to see a freshman do."

On the team's defense
"I think we're a very good defensive team. I think we've been a very good defensive team. I think our struggles have been on offense. What I liked today, even though we were scoring and getting good shots, we never lost sight of the fact that we had to guard, except for a couple of blips when people came off the bench and didn't perform the actions necessary, I thought we did a very good job. I think those people made adjustments the next time they got an opportunity.

"We spend a lot of time of defense, we can guard. It's the sharing and moving. I think having Brooke, another ball handler in there who can make plays, in there allows Kei to have a little more freedom and Lakelyn to have a little more freedom. Brooke had five assists, two turnovers. She becomes someone who can make a play, a basket and a pass. That third dimension, that's where we've been real good when we have three people out on the floor who can intelligently distribute the ball. That makes us a good team. It's taken a while to get there, but I'm pretty comfortable with where we are on that."

How good did it feel to get that win?
"It felt pretty good.  I think we came out and set the tempo and played how we should play every game. I think we moved the ball like we should, rebounded, and it resulted in good results for the game."

How does it feel being senior night?
"It feels good. I wasn't really trying to focus on it being senior night. I was just trying to get this win tonight and get back to what we are known for doing. I think we're making a step towards that, so it feels good."

How good do you think you all could be if you all played consistently like this?
"I think we could be a very good basketball team. I know other people coming in and stepping up takes pressure off of some of the main scorers. I think that helped us out a lot. We'll be good if we keep playing like this consistently."

Brooke Burns
On being comfortable on the floor
"I was. I started getting better at defense and being where I'm supposed to be at practice. When I got out there it was just like practices. I wanted to help get the win for Keiana and Aryanna on senior night. I'm glad I could be a part of it."
