Overall thoughts on the game:
"We have been a very good defensive team all year long. If you stop and think about, we gave up 41 points to Auburn and 44 points to Northwestern, defense has not been our issue.Â
Offensively, the flow, continuity, moving the ball, our bench developing, freshmen starting to understand there are different opportunities for different people.
"That group is playing so well together, we were going to stay with them. With some substitutions to get some rest built around timeouts. When 35 went to the bench, we gave Bria a blow. With her length she was causing some problems. That kid is very talented. That Euro step and does a lot of stuff that is tough to guard.Â
"This is two games in a row we have started to play a full 40 minutes. Two games in a row where we have taken care of the basketball. Two games in a row where we are taking advantage of quality shots and mismatches, and Kei just feeling very comfortable running the point and looking to score."
On scoring inside:
"We were spacing the floor a little bit differently and doing some things a little bit differently. We had a different look when they went to their matchup zone that caused us some problems. We got a layup out of a cut from a post player. We stepped some people out on the perimeter that they haven't seen us do. We got a couple of threes, so they put the zone in their back pocket and didn't bring it out again. I just think we did some excellent things today and are getting to be a better basketball team.
On the improvement of Arriane Whitaker:
"Some players it takes a while, some players have to understand what it is you are talking about. She is not a very good back-to-the-basket player and we have been working like crazy to get her to face up more. A couple of things happen, No. 1 she is making better decisions. No. 2 she is using the backboard because the angles are there. No. 3 she knows where she is on the floor because she turns and looks. With her back to the basket, she dribbles and traps come and she made some poor decisions. That is not happening now because she can see the floor better. You figure out what some people are good at and you adjust and start to teach them. It is taken some time for her to break those habits, and now that she has she is starting to see the productivity we thought we would get out of her."
On UNCG's attempt at a run:
"With the game the way it is played today with the shot clock, with eliminating the timeouts by going to quarters, the game just goes up and down a lot more. Runs are a significant part of this thing now. All of the stop and starting wasn't as prevalent as it is now. No lead is safe and the game is just a little bit different as a result."
