BATON ROUGE, La.---LSU's University Club is a tough tract. It's doubly difficult on a blustery day, but that didn't show in Monica San Juan's game. The junior from Pamplona, Spain is tied for second after an opening round 73.

Her 1-over total led the squad shooting 315 as a group. Cristina Perez turned in 79 followed closely by Megan Woods with an 80. Holly Morgan completed the counting cards with 83. Maddy McDanel had the drop tally of 86.

Houston has the early lead with the lone sub-300 round of 297. LSU and N.C. State are tied for second at 305. The Cougars Megan Thothong is the leader at 2 under. That puts her three ahead of San Juan and Mercer's Terese Romeo.

The Mocs 315 is one ahead of SMU and two clear of Charlotte. They're one behind Mercer in sixth and just two shy of No. 25 Virginia in fifth.
