BATON ROUGE---The Chattanooga Mocs finished a grueling 54 holes in eighth place at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic. Windy weather challenged the 12-team field throughout with the Mocs 306 today providing a three-day total of 937.
Â
That put UTC three ahead of Princeton in ninth with 940. Southern Miss rounded out the top 10 at 946. SMU was eight clear of the Mocs in seventh with 929.
Â
Cristina Perez registered her second straight top 10 shooting 9-over 225. She recovered from an opening 79 to rise 21 spots on the leaderboard tying for eighth.
Monica San Juan joined her in the top 20 tying for 19th at 232.
Â
Perez tallied 146 over her final two cards which tied for third-best in the field over that span. Her 73 today led the way followed by
Holly Morgan's 76. San Juan turned in 78, one ahead of
Megan Woods and
Maddy McDanel with twin 78s.
Â
The blustery conditions at University Club wreaked havoc with the entire field. The average 18-hole score was 311.67. The Mocs 937 total is its highest since recording 939 finishing fifth at Iowa's Diane Thomason Invitational in October 2014.
Â
Host LSU roared back from an 11-stroke deficit to thwart Houston's wire-to-wire efforts. The Tigers won with a 902 total, two clear of Houston. Claudia De Antonio's 69 today made it a clean sweep for LSU as she ended up at 1-under 215 with a five-shot win.

3 NOTES TO KNOW
- Perez is the third Moc with back-to-back top 10s this season, the second in team events. All three came during the spring with San Juan starting 2018 as runner-up at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Individual and again at the Moon Golf Invite. Woods followed by tying for eighth at Moon Golf and then tied for sixth at the UNF Collegiate.
- Perez defeated two top 50 and three total ranked in the top 100 nationally. She ended up four clear of No. 43 Beth Lillie (Virginia) and 10 ahead of No. 33 Anna Reading (Virginia) and No. 95 Laura Kowohl (N.C. State).
- Morgan was -3 on the par 3s today, E for the tournament. The 3 under day matches Perez's season best for 2017-18 with the senior shooting hers in the opening 18 at UNF. It's the 11th time this year Morgan shot par or better on the short holes over a single card.
