HILTON HEAD---The Chattanooga Mocs shot 308 on a windy first round of the Southern Conference Women's Golf Championships. That number puts the squad in third behind No. 8 Furman in first at 301 and Mercer in second with 307 on Moss Creek Golf Club's South Course.
Holly Morgan paced the quintet with 76.
Monica San Juan and
Megan Woods turned in 77s with
Cristina Perez adding 78.
Maddy McDanel had the drop tally of 83.
Four Mocs are in the top 10. Morgan stands in fifth closely followed by San Juan and Woods in sixth. Perez is tied for 10th. The Bears' Payton Schanen holds the individual lead with a 1-over 73. Furman's Natalie Srinivasan is second at 74.
UTC is 11 clear of fourth-place Samford (319) and 15 ahead of ETSU (323) in fifth. UNCG (326) is sixth with Wofford (330), The Citadel (349) and Western Carolina (375) rounding out the leaderboard.
