HILTON HEAD---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf finished the Southern Conference Women's Golf Championships tied for second at Moss Creek Club's South Course. The squad turned in 306 Tuesday to remain deadlocked with Mercer at 931.
Monica San Juan led the effort today with a 2-over 74. It was the event's top score by a Moc.
Cristina Perez turned in 75 with
Megan Woods and
Maddy McDanel adding 77 and 80, respectively.
Holly Morgan had the drop score of 81.
San Juan was the quintet's top finisher ending up seventh at 231. Morgan and Woods tied for ninth with 233 as Perez wound up tied for 13th at 235. McDanel (250) tied for 31st.
It marked the 10th straight year the Mocs have finished either first or second in the event. They were runners-up to Furman in 2009, the first year Moss Creek hosted, before winning five straight from 2010-14 on the North Course. The last four years include second-place endings. The program was re-instated in 2007-08 after being ended in the mid-1980s.
No. 8 Furman claimed the win closing with 294. The Paladins Reona Hirai claimed a four-shot win over teammate Natalie Srinivasan shooting 6-over 222. Samford (952) ended up fourth behind the Mocs and Bears followed by UNCG (964), ETSU (965), Wofford (979), The Citadel (1,039) and Western Carolina (1,064).

3 NOTES TO KNOW
- Mocs doubled their birdie total over the first 36 holes with six today on the counting cards.
- The counters played the par 4s at just 3 over today (4.08) after a 4.36 average over first two days.
- The top 10s from San Juan, Morgan and Woods are the 27th, 28th and 29th in program history at the SoCon Championships. It marks the third in Woods' four years, second for San Juan and first for Morgan.
