Soccer Blanks North Alabama in Non-Conference Finale

Chattanooga closed out the non-conference slate the way it started - with a 3-0 win.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's soccer team earned a 3-0 win over North Alabama in the Mocs' final game of the non-conference slate. Chattanooga improves to 4-4-1 on the year and the Lions fall to 5-4 overall.

Senior Masey Fox scored the game winner in the first half and sophomore Chloe Arnold added two second half goals to secure the win while freshman keeper Ashton Shields recorded her third shutout of the season.

Fox notched her third goal of the year in the 18th minute picking up a deflected shot off the Lions keeper from Arnold, firing it into the net to make it 1-0 early on.

Arnold took a free kick for the Mocs about 10 yards outside the box, sending it over the line and into the upper right side of the net over UNA's keeper Savannah Stewart to make it a 2-0 match at the 53:55 mark.

Fox had a header waved off when it was determined that she was offsides, but she would get another chance late in the game. She picked up a pass and darted into the box, going one on one with the keeper. Stewart was able to push the shot away but Arnold was right there to pick it up on the right side and get it past two Lion defenders to make it 3-0 in the 79th minute.

Shields had two powerful saves in the match, reaching up to knock the ball over the net, securing the shutout.

She closed out the match with a game-high five points on two goals and one assist. Fox had two shots, a goal and one assist while four more took one shot each. Shields saved both shots faced.
