Chattanooga Basketball Postgame Quotes
Chattanooga vs. ETSU
McKenzie Arena – Chattanooga, Tenn.
Saturday – Jan. 12, 2019
Katie Burrows, Head Coach
Opening statement after win over ETSU in SoCon opener.
"What a great way to start SoCon play. I could not be more excited for our players. All of this hard work that they have put in over the last couple months, especially with a tough schedule, we've seen everything. I keep telling them that they have already seen everything. We've seen the best teams in the country, the best players in the country. Last time I looked we were seventh in the country in strength of schedule, now we're fifth I believe. My point is, we don't play competition that isn't going to make us better. Win or lose, it was going to make us better and I think that showed today. We were able to handle everything thrown at us and we were calm. We were patient and move the ball around on offense. I was very pleased that we executed our game plan all around."
On the performance of freshman Eboni Williams.
"Double-doubles are never a bad thing, especially in less than 20 minutes. She was a different kid today, not in the sense in the things she brings to us, but in the sense that she played so much slower today. Her mind wasn't going in 20 different directions. I think she has made the decision to slow down and stay under control. She had great tempo from the three-point line and her effort on the boards was incredible."
On the feeling after this win & moving forward.
"So much more fun. I'm on cloud nine. But I told them all to enjoy this for about a second because on Monday we have to get ready for Wofford. We don't have a whole lot of time to enjoy it, but it definitely feels great. We're excited about this."
Eboni Williams, Fr.-F
On the importance of today's win.
"It was much needed. It was great for us to come out with high energy and keep our energy in the second half to finish it."
On what was different today that resulted in great performance.
"When I came in, I was super calm today. Usually I'm very frantic and ahead of myself, but I guess something changed today. I ate a good breakfast."
On what the team worked on over the break.
"I think our biggest thing was communication. Over our break, in practices, we really talked to each other and it carried over to the game."
Lakelyn Bouldin, Jr.-G
On the mentality coming in to today's game.
"I think we knew coming in to the game that we needed to prove a point to every body. We had a tough schedule before now and we just needed to keep our intensity today."
On what was the difference in the second half.
"We knew in the second half we had to cut our turnovers down. They were getting aggressive and forcing us to make stupid mistakes, they were all on us. We knew we just had to take care of the ball and slow the game down to not let them in our heads."
On what practices consisted of over break.
"I think we just touched on everything. You can do a lot in 12 days. We got to touch on every aspect and work on them to tighten things up."
