Chattanooga Basketball Postgame Quotes
Hampton at Chattanooga
Chattanooga, Tenn. - McKenzie Arena

Katie Burrows, Head Coach
On what, if anything, was learned tonight.
"What not to do. I thought we did that after our game at Belmont. This was a totally different team than Belmont, this team pushed the ball a lot, and we knew that. We talked about these things. We tried our best to prepare. When we came out today, I don't think we ever had that fire in us. Not sure from the very start and that's frustrating because I thought we were efficient at shoot around earlier today."
Â
On the play from newcomer
Ruona Uwusiaba.
"She had grit, she had fight. She was banging in there to get boards. She had some really good looks offensively. She just has to learn how to finish and I think her jitters might have gotten the best of her. I mean she hasn't played in a year and that's tough for a kid. I thought she did a lot of good things and think she'll see more time on the floor."
Â
On how to get better down the road and what will help.
"We have to score. And we have to score early. If we don't start putting pressure on teams early, then they don't tighten up. That team played so loose today. I think we did a little bit better at that at Belmont. They hit two back-to-back shots, and then momentum shifted, yeah they hit a couple shots but you can't be defeated. You have to fight. And I think that comes from a little bit of inexperience."
Â
Lakelyn Bouldin, Sr.-G
On defensive efforts against a face-paced team.
"We had talked the last couple days about how they were quick and how we needed to contain them. We just didn't get it done on that end. They had two players with 25 and 26 points, we can't win ball games like that."
Â
On what was the key in trying to create offense.
"I think they were hugging a little bit which opened up some other things when they got in their zone. That was key for us, trying to attack their zone when they were in it."
Â
On moving forward.
"We can't get down on ourselves. We have to take this game as a learning experience. The biggest thing is we just have to knock down shots."
Â
Abbey Cornelius,
So.-F
On the key to scoring a career-high in points today.
"They were getting me the ball when I was open. My teammates did a good job of getting it to me when I was open and we knew it'd be open in their zone. We had a lot of good looks today, we just weren't knocking them down."
