Kirsty Beckwith topped the Chattanooga Mocs tying for 13th at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invite.

GREENSBORO, Ga.---The Chattanooga Mocs earned a solid fifth-place finish in the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invite Sunday. The squad completed the unique event with a 907 total which was six shots ahead of SEC-member Missouri in sixth.

The Mocs finished off the last nine holes of round two in the morning at 299. That put the group tied for third with Kentucky and Texas Tech, five strokes behind No. 6 Vanderbilt. They shot 311 in the afternoon to drop back into fifth against a strong field.

Junior Kirsty Beckwith led the way tying for 13th with a 10-over 226. That was one ahead of fellow junior Maddy McDanel's 227 which was good for a tie for 19th. Monica San Juan was next at 229, one clear of Rheagan Hall's 230. Esme Hamilton finished with 235, while Dorota Zalewska turned in 240.

All five starters contributed to the team total. They ended the second round with Beckwith and San Juan's 74s to go with McDanel's 75 and Hamilton's 76. The final round was led by Hall with 76. She was supported by McDanel (77), San Juan (79) and Hamilton (79).

The Commodores claimed the title with an 881 total. Mercer was second at 896 followed by Texas Tech and Kentucky with 896. TTU's Sofia Garcia was medalist at 3-under 213.

The Mocs return to the tee March 4-5 at the UNF Collegiate. The two-day, 54-hole event is played at Jacksonville Golf & Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla.

Kirsty Beckwith posted her top finish in her Mocs career tying for 13th…turned in her low 18 (72), 36 (146) and 54-hole total (226) in her first season in the Scenic City...tied the nation's 13th-ranked golfer, Leonie Bettel of Vanderbilt, while also topping No. 36 Courtney Zeng (Vandy) by two and No. 44 Jess Yuen of Missouri by 10.
Maddy McDanel tallied her third top 20 of the year, second in a row coming against stiff competition…she also defeated the same two top 50 golfers beating Zeng by one and Yeun by nine.
Entered the event ranked No. 96 in the nation before besting four schools ranked ahead of them...topped No. 55 Missouri by six, No. 76 ETSU by 12, No. 86 Rutgers by 18 and No. 80 Eastern Kentucky by 52.
