The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team scored a 6-1 win over Alabama A&M in Troy, Ala., today. The Mocs scored their first win in three spring duals, while the Bulldogs dropped to 0-6.
"I thought it was a good day," stated head coach
Chad Camper. "We faced some wind and a really crafty team. I thought the girls did a good job of staying positive and on top of their opponent. It really motived them that they could win in different elements. We look forward to tomorrow."
Chattanooga swept the doubles point, led by senior
Caroline Hall and sophomore Bogdana Zaprorzhets' 6-1 win at No. 3. Sophomore
Emma Van Hee and freshman
Lilly Holmes scored a 6-3 win at No. 2, while senior
Annie Tarwater and freshman
Polina Goloputova won 7-5 at No. 1.
The only setback in singles for the Mocs came at No. 2 when senior
Delaney Edwards retired while leading (7-5, 2-2). Goloputova won at No. 1, followed by Hall, Holmes and Van Hee. Freshman Anna Didkovskava also scored a win at No. 6 singles.
